GM Holden has released the first images of Holden's much anticipated Volt extended electric vehicles, as it will appear on the roads of Australia. The images, which show a version of right-hand drive Holden Volt Sport badges on the front and rear aerodynamics, were released as part of the presentation of Holden International Motor Show Melbourne. This is a place to take the vehicle that was acclaimed for his ability to travel 64 km before electricity with gasoline or producing tailpipe.
GM Holden chairman and managing director Mark Reuss said the company had been overwhelmed by a public interest in Volt Holden since announcing the launch in Australia in 2012. "We believe that V has the potential to change the game in the Australian car," said Reuss. "Since we announced our intention to introduce Holden Volt to Australia, which were overwhelmed by the public interest in the car and the technology that makes it work. GM estimates that compared to firms gasoline vehicles will save motorists up to 1892 Volts liters of fuel per year. V - How the technology works
Volt is an extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV). In a significant advance from conventional hybrids, it uses electricity to its wheels at all times and speeds. For trips up to 64 km, Volt is powered only by electricity stored in its battery without using petrol or producing exhaust pipe. When the battery is discharged, a small gasoline engine generates electricity for the vehicle to travel hundreds of miles away. Volt - Details
The design of the Volt production car has evolved from an original concept that was unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. General Motors has created a design for energy-efficient production vehicles, resulting in one of the most aerodynamic cars in the history of the company. Many design elements of the concept car was brought into the production Volt, including the closed front grille, athletic and graphic design background. Inside, the Volt offers space, comfort, convenience and security that customers expect in a sedan with four passengers.
Volt - Battery Information
GM plans to build the first lithium-ion battery production facility to handle a large model car in the United States to produce V battery system. It consists of a lithium-ion cells, which are grouped into modules, along with other key elements of the battery. The plant is located in Michigan, the subject of negotiations with state and local government authorities. Ment will start in early 2009, and production tools were installed in the mid-year and production will begin in 2010.
